Fetching Hearts Rescue is the long time dream of its founder, Kathy Dymersky. It all started with the rescue of her beloved Pomeranian, Tucker, back in 2009.
"I've always been an animal lover. My sister and I grew up riding and caring for horses and we always had a family dog. Eventually I grew up and moved out on my own. It wasn't long before I realized how much I missed having a dog to come home to. One Friday I decided to do a search on PetFinder, just to see what was available. That's when I saw Tucker and fell in love. The very next day, I brought Tucker home."

Tucker became Kathy's best friend and they were inseparable. The experience of having a rescue dog and all the good things that came with it also came with a constant reminder of the large number of good dogs still out there without homes. Kathy felt so lucky to have found her best furry friend that she decided she needed to find a way to pay it forward. This led her to join a local rescue. She worked her way up in the organization, learning everything she could about what makes a successful rescue. This culminated in her dream of starting her very own rescue.
Sadly, in 2017, Tucker started showing signs of a degenerative disorder in his neck. Kathy took him to every specialist she could find to treat him. Eventually, it became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to stop the disorder from progressing. Tucker eventually lost his sight and his quality of life continued to decline. Kathy was left to make the very difficult decision to let her best friend go and cross the Rainbow Bridge, to let his soul rest in peace.

Kathy vowed to never forget Tucker and everything he brought to her life. In 2019, she found herself in a place to truly honor that vow and founded what you now know as Fetching Hearts Rescue. Ten years after Tucker, the little Pomeranian, captured a heart, an organization that will go on to help countless other dogs in need was born.
To further honor the memory of Tucker, the team at Fetching Hearts Rescue decided to dedicate a special section of the website to Tucker called "Tucker's Tales". Here we will share stories of hearts being captured, souls being saved and spread the word through educating the community on the world of rescue and what we can all do to reduce the numbers of homeless dogs.
